FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Taylor Helbig scored 17 points and Holy Family won its third straight state girls basketball championship with a 45-29 victory over cold-shooting Colorado Springs Christian in the Class 3A final Saturday night.
Holy Family (30-1) finished with a 24-game winning streak.
Colorado Springs Christian (25-1) shot only 19 percent. Brianne Vandegriend led her team with nine points.
Holy Family saw its 12-point halftime lead shrink to 26-21 midway through the third quarter but led 31-23 two minutes later on a layup and 3-pointer by Sarah Talamantes. Colorado Springs Christian never got closer than six points the rest of the way.
Colorado Springs Christian had beaten Holy Family 41-34 the third game of the season.
