Colorado Interstate Gas Co. has experienced an unexpected outage affecting its Cheyenne Plains Jumper compressor station in northeastern Colorado and declared a force majeure — an unforeseen event that releases a company from a contractual obligation — according to a notice on its website.
The station links 22- and 24-inch pipelines operated by Colorado Interstate to a 36-inch natural-gas line owned by Cheyenne Plains Gas Pipeline Co., Richard Wheatley, a spokesman for Colorado Interstate’s parent company, El Paso Corp., said in a telephone interview.
The compressor unit is out of service while a bent compressor crankshaft is fixed.
