BOULDER, Colo.—Colorado guard Alec Burks, the Big 12 Conference’s freshman of the year, is staying with the Buffaloes, saying he has put aside concerns about the change in coaches.
Burks had hinted that some players might leave the program if associate head coach Steve McClain wasn’t hired to replace Jeff Bzdelik, who has left for Wake Forest.
Tad Boyle of the University of Northern Colorado was hired Monday for the job. Burks said after the announcement that he was exploring his options.
But Burks said Wednesday that he talked to Boyle and likes his plan.
Burks is expected to play a key role for the Buffs in the next season. His 512 points last season made him the first Colorado freshman to surpass 500. He averaged 17.1 points per game.
