The Merrell Oyster Racing Series is taking its popular urban adventure races to the dirt for the first time at Saturday’s Oyster Off Road Race in Glenwood Springs.
Designed as a unique alternative for adventure aficionados who compete in 5K and 10K races and triathlons, the event will combine mountain biking and trail running with mystery disciplines ranging from orienteering to water elements, along with trivia, brainteasers and stunts.
The race will take up to five hours and cover 20 to 30 miles on a secret course that will be revealed as teams move from checkpoint to checkpoint. Future Oyster Off Road Races are planned for select mountain communities in 2011.
