Leaders of Denver’s Hispanic faith-based community say they expect 1,000 women of faith to gather between 6 and 8 p.m. today at Ministerios Internacionales church to worship, sing and pray for common- sense immigration-reform legislation.

The “Mujeres En Accion” (Women In Action) event is part a national effort by the Esperanza network of 12,000 Hispanic churches and groups and its allies. Two other events have each drawn more than 1,000 participants in Austin, Texas, and Chicago, Denver organizers said.

Denver’s event at 4455 Jason St. will feature Esperanza’s president, the Rev. Luis Cortes; Ministerios Internacionales Pastor Jackie Martinez; Women of Esperanza co-chair Damaris Cortes; and singer Jessica Nunez.
