DENVER—Colorado Attorney General John Suthers is temporarily taking responsibility for prosecutions in the 22nd Judicial District following the death of District Attorney Jim Wilson.
Gov. Bill Ritter issued an executive order Sunday authorizing Suthers to take over in the district serving Dolores and Montezuma counties until Wilson’s replacement is named.
The Colorado State Patrol says Wilson was thrown from his motorcycle Saturday morning after losing control on a turn on Interstate 70 west of Golden. He was 57.
Wilson’s term was expected to end January 2013.
