ATLANTA — A teacher is on leave and could lose her job after she allowed four students to don mock Ku Klux Klan outfits for a high school film project Thursday, officials said. The sight upset some black students and led at least one parent to complain.
Catherine Ariemma, who teaches an advanced-placement course combining U.S. history with film education, could face suspension or termination, the Lumpkin County superintendent said.
“It was poor judgment on my part in allowing them to film at school,” she said.
The high school class about 75 miles north of Atlanta was creating a film tracing the history of racism.
