One thousand and one Air Force Academy cadets received their diplomas – and their lieutenant’s bars – in a graduation ceremony today that the nation’s highest ranking military officer called the “end of the beginning.”
“The Air Force is now your classroom, the airmen your teachers,” said Navy Admiral Michael Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and today’s featured graduation speaker.
“Tap into your and their imaginations, and there will be no limit to what you can accomplish.”
The newly minted Air Force officers hugged, bumped fists and chests and leaped into each others arms after crossing the stage under a bright if occasionally cloudy spring sky.
