Federal statistics released Wed nesday show that U.S. passenger airlines employed 6.4 percent fewer pilots and 7.2 percent fewer maintenance workers last year than in 2008. Total industry jobs dropped by 4.1 percent between 2008 and 2009, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
