The annual Lyons Outdoor Games return to the banks of the St. Vrain River on Friday for the eighth year, adding a new event to the three-day mix of adventure sports, family-friendly activities and music at this low-key festival. Saturday’s Dash and Bash Trail Run (5 p.m. at Sandstone Park) was added to the lineup, featuring a 5K cross country run with an optional “dress to impress” theme encouraging leisure suits and prom-worthy dresses.
Weekend warriors are invited to rub elbows with the pros in events ranging from mountain biking and skateboarding to what many consider the top steep creek kayaking race in the nation. Low-cost clinics (from free to $25) are offered to those less interested in competition and dogs are welcome. Title sponsor Oskar Blues Brewery is taking care of the party. There is no cost to spectators.
