Paul McCartney is an awfully large name to announce a concert so hastily. Consider that U2’s Saturday date at Invesco Field (now postponed) was announced last October, whereas word of McCartney’s July 15 concert at the Pepsi Center — only a month away — reached us just last week. Not that the eternally boyish singer- songwriter should have any problem selling tickets: Sir Paul’s last Colorado appearance was nearly five years ago, and his current live show breaks the two-hour mark with hits spanning his entire recorded output. Tickets for the “Up and Coming 2010 Tour” are on sale at 10 a.m. Monday. ($55.50-$250, TicketHorse)

Furthur, the latest jam-rock incarnation of former Grateful Dead members Phil Lesh and Bob Weir, has barely been away long enough for us to miss them. The band helped open Broomfield’s rechristened 1stBank Center in March, but already has its sights on a Front Range return. The group, which features members of RatDog, the Benevento-Russo Duo and Dark Star Orchestra, is set to play Red Rocks Amphitheatre Aug. 24-25. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($54.50-$60, Ticketmaster)

Stone Temple Pilots, against a lot of odds, continue to chug along in quasi-reunion mode, sounding surprisingly respectable on their self-titled sixth album. It only makes sense that Scott Weiland and company would follow with a big tour, which brings them by Red Rocks on Aug. 10 with opener Cage the Elephant. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($42.50-$67.50, Ticketmaster)

Band of Horses is already seeing the benefits of jumping to major label Columbia with album “Infinite Arms,” which finds them in a more polished pop-rock mode after a couple releases on Seattle indie label Sub Pop. That means bigger venues this time around, with the band playing the 3,700-capacity Fillmore Auditorium on Sept. 29. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($25, )

Margaret Cho is either fearless or tasteless, depending on who you ask, but the unapologetic comedian wouldn’t have it any other way. She returns to Denver for a Paramount Theatre show on Oct. 9 to promote her new release “Cho Dependent,” which finds her collaborating with musicians such as Fiona Apple, Tegan and Sara, Ben Lee, Ani DiFranco, Andrew Bird and Patty Griffin. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. today. ($29.50-$47.50, TicketHorse)

Eels, the enigmatic pop-rock project Mark Oliver Everett, is touring amid its typically prolific release schedule, including an Oct. 5 stop at the Ogden Theatre. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. today. ($24-$30, Ticketmaster)
