OAKLAND, Calif. — Angels first baseman Kendry Morales will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his broken left leg.
Morales, who had the operation Thursday, broke his leg while leaping onto home plate during a celebration after his game-ending grand slam against Seattle on May 29.
Morales was leading the team with 11 homers, 39 RBIs and a .290 average at the time.
Ellsbury to remain sidelined
CLEVELAND — Red Sox outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury, who has played only nine games this season because of broken ribs, will be sidelined several more weeks.
Ellsbury, who broke four ribs in a collision with teammate Adrian Beltre on April 11, was examined by Dr. Lewis Yocum in Los Angeles, where a new injury to the area was discovered.
