GREELEY — Greeley and Weld County crews have cut a channel through a road to direct overflow from the Cache La Poudre River and plan to build a larger culvert once the high waters subside.

City spokesman Joel Hemesath said the river levels were dropping, but four roads were still closed because of flooding. There were no reports of damage to buildings.

The channel was cut through a road after overflow from the river Tuesday spilled into an irrigation ditch, a field and three gravel pits.

A 30-inch pipe in a culvert will be replaced so it can carry more water under the road where the channel was cut.
