Breckenridge will break ground this month on 42 affordable townhomes designed for full-time residents of the resort area.

Units in the 4.5-acre infill Valley Brook development at 1100 Airport Road will range in size from 1,150 to 1,384 square feet. Fourteen two-bedroom/two-bath units priced at $165,000 will be available to those who qualify at 80 percent of area median income. There will be eight three-bedroom/two-bath units for $187,500. For those earning 105 percent of area median income, there are 14 two-bedroom/two bath townhomes priced at $267,000. There also are six three-bedroom/two-bath units priced at $302,000.

Designed by KTGY Group Inc., Architecture and Planning, the townhomes will be built to LEED Silver standards. Features will include energy-efficient windows, water-saving fixtures and carpet made from a high percentage of recycled material. Margaret Jackson, The Denver Post
