BOULDER, Colo.—Boulder prosecutors are appealing a judge’s decision to dismiss a second-degree murder charge against an Alaska man who was accused of killing his girlfriend in Colorado four years ago.
The Boulder District’s Attorney’s office filed the appeal this week after Judge Thomas Reed ruled there was insufficient evidence to put 40-year-old John Michael Angerer on trial. Angerer was arrested and charged in the death of 38-year-old Angela Josephine Wilds. He was freed Monday after Reed’s ruling.
Wilds’ decomposed body was found by hikers in a shallow grave at the South St. Vrain Canyon. The Boulder County Coroner’s Office ruled Wilds’ cause and manner of death as undetermined.
