A 6-year-old girl suffered extensive injuries to her face Monday afternoon after a pit bull attacked her.
The attack occurred around 1:15 p.m. in the 3600 block of Dogwood Drive.
The dog’s owner, Rachel Goran, was cited for illegal ownership of a dangerous dog, a misdemeanor, said Stacey Candella, Humane Society spokeswoman. The dog, an unneutered male, is en route to the Humane Society, where it will be euthanized, Candella said.
The girl will require surgery, police said.
