Rapids midfielder Jeff Larentowicz has been named to the MLS all-star team that will play Manchester United on July 28 in Houston. He is the only Rapids player on the roster.
The Rapids acquired Larentowicz in the offseason in a trade with the New England Revolution. A holding midfielder who has been a disruptive force against attacks, Larentowicz has started every game this season and has one goal.
The MLS last week announced its “First XI,” consisting of the top choice at each position based on voting by fans, league coaches and general managers, players and media. Los Angeles Galaxy coach Bruce Arena, who will manage the MLS side in the game, added 11 more selections Monday, including Larentowicz, and commissioner Don Garber added two “commissioner’s picks.”
Arena gets to pick his starting lineup.
