A fire broke out in a garage early Saturday and spread to another house in Colorado Springs.

No one was hurt as several residents were evacuated, said Lt. James Eddy of the Colorado Springs Fire Department. Officials said later that 12 people were displaced from two homes.

About 35 firefighters and rescue workers were called at 3:20 a.m. to a home at 4531 Frost Drive, Eddy said.

Fire was contained to the garage in one house, but the flames ignited the siding next door and burned an electrical box, he said.

Firefighters had the flames extinguished in about 10 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation, Eddy said. Kirk Mitchell, The Denver Post
