A man who robbed a Craigslist seller after ramming his car then tried to carjack other vehicles at a busy Commerce City intersection has been found guilty of multiple felony counts.

Marcos Giron, 23, was found guilty late Monday by an Adams County jury of aggravated robbery, attempted aggravated robbery, attempted robbery, theft and felony menacing.

On March 12, 2009, Giron and Peter Shawn Ramirez contacted Eduardo Gomez-Castillo to purchase iPhones he was selling on Craigslist.

When the men did not show up at a pre-arranged location, Gomez-Castillo left. However, Giron and Ramirez had been watching Gomez, followed his car and rammed it in the 16000 block of Kalispell.

When Gomez-Castillo got out of his car to view the damage, Giron pointed a gun at him, threatening to kill him if he didn’t hand over the iPhones.

Giron took the phones; Ramirez forced Gomez-Castillo to the ground and took his wallet.

They then fled.

Two Commerce City detectives spotted the thieves’ car, which had a blown front tire.

At the intersection of 120th Avenue and Chambers Road, the tire fell off and the two suspects attempted to carjack vehicles in the intersection.

Ramirez, armed with a black semi-automatic handgun, and Giron, armed with a 9mm semi-automatic, approached five motorists, demanding their cars.

The detectives opened fire. Ramirez was hit three times and Giron was shot once.

Ramirez later died in a hospital.
