A truck driver suffered serious injuries shortly after noon Tuesday when his truck struck him, according to Trooper Heather Cobler of the Colorado State Patrol.
The accident happened about 12:20 p.m. on Colorado 8 just north of U.S. 285.
Cobler said the driver had pulled over to a taco stand to buy lunch. After finishing lunch, he tried to start his truck but found that its brakes had locked up, Cobler said.
When he got under the truck to fix the problem, the truck started rolling and struck him, Cobler said.
The trooper said she did not know whether the semi rolled over the driver or simply gave him a glancing blow.
The State Patrol was called to 19192 Highway 8, which is the address of The Fort restaurant and the Tesoro Cultural Center, a nonprofit located at the restaurant.
Sarah Shirazi, the director of development for the nonprofit, said The Fort is not open for lunch, but truck drivers during the day often use the parking area around the restaurant to take breaks.
Shirazi said the taco stand is just north of The Fort and the cultural center.
