A 24-year-old Denver man already facing murder charges for the death of his girlfriend also tried to hire someone to kill a potential witness, according to a new charge against Robert Walters.

The Denver District Attorney’s Office added a felony charge against Walters on Friday of solicitation to commit first-degree murder.

He already faces a first-degree murder charge in the November 2008 death of 22-year-old Brittney Brashers, his girlfriend at the time.

Prosecutors say he drove into parked cars in the 100 block of South Yuma Street to stage an accident to cover up injuries to Brasher he had caused, which led to her death.
