Denver city officials Thursday rejected the recall effort against Denver school-board member Andrea Merida for mostly clerical reasons.
Petitioners say they plan to fix the errors and resubmit the paperwork today.
The submission did not include an address of one of the three required committee members, voter registration couldn’t be confirmed for another, and some legal wording is missing.
“All that this essentially means is they now can go through, correct those things and resubmit,” said Alton Dillard, spokesman for the election division.
Jose Silva, a community activist who is leading the effort, said the committee will do just that. “We will correct the errors, and it will be 100 percent.”
If the recall effort is approved, the committee has 60 days to collect 4,032 signatures from registered voters in Merida’s district.
Merida said she is not concerned.
