BOULDER, Colo.—A Colorado woman evacuated by the wildfire in Boulder County escaped the flames but not a loss—her car was broken into, and a thief took the valuables she took out of her home when she fled.
Boulder Police say the woman lost her passport and some $1,500 in jewelry, camping gear and other valuables when someone broke into her car late Tuesday or early Wednesday.
The victim wasn’t named. Police say she was staying with a friend after leaving her home because of the Fourmile Canyon fire, which has burned more than 6,000 acres. The evacuee apparently left the valuables in her car overnight.
