LOVELAND, Colo.—Warm, dry weather is helping fuel the nearly 1,000-acre wildfire burning in the foothills in northern Colorado. Now crews are also expecting winds to pick up later Tuesday into Wednesday.
Incident team manager Jim Thomas says the next 36 hours are pivotal for crews to make headway against the fire. It’s burning in steep terrain on very dry trees and grass.
Over 400 firefighters have been assigned to fight the fire and the team that led the fight against the wildfire near Boulder has now taken over the fire.
Investigators say the fire was started by two people burning vegetation at a home. They plan to turn their findings to prosecutors Tuesday and they’ll decide whether to pursue charges.
