LAS VEGAS—School administrators from Dallas, Colorado and Florida are in the running to replace the outgoing schools chief in Las Vegas.

Clark County school officials on Thursday identified the three as Dallas Independent School District Superintendent Michael Hinojosa (ee-no-HO’-sah), Colorado Education Commissioner Dwight D. Jones and the superintendent of Florida’s Lee County School District, James Browder.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the trio of candidates was picked by search consultant McPherson & Jacobson of Omaha, Neb.

They’re due for introductions and interviews before a decision is made on who’ll head the nation’s fifth-largest school district.

Walt Rulffes (RULE’-fiss) is due to step down in January after more than three years as superintendent and nine years as chief district financial officer.
