A 23-year-old Littleton man has been sentenced to five years in prison for shaking, and injuring, his infant daughter because she wouldn’t stop crying.

Anton Bogachov was caring for his six-week-old baby on March 7 and March 8 when he became frustrated over the girl’s crying, according to the Jeffferson County District Attorney’s Office. On both days Bogachov, who was caring for the child while her mother was at work, shook the baby.

On July 19, Bogachov pleaded guilty to two counts of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.

He was sentenced on Tuesday in Golden.

At the sentencing a prosecutor told the court that the prognosis for the child – now an eight-month-old – is not clear. She has a shunt in her brain to prevent additional fluid from pooling and doctors say she’ll have developmental deficits, which may include not being able to walk or talk, according to the district attorney’s office.
