A teenager who broke into a Denver home, resulting in a fatal shooting, was found guilty of burglary.

Ali Sims was found guilty by a Denver jury Friday on two counts of first-degree burglary, a Denver District Attorney’s Office media release said.

Sims, 17, and two other teens broke into a home on 3100 block of Gaylord Street in May; the homeowner fatally shot 17-year-old Marcus Duran, prosecutors said.

The homeowner acted in self-defense and was cleared of any criminal wrongdoing in the shooting.

Sims’ second burglary count was for a burglary that happened a block away earlier on the night of the shooting.

The third teen, 16-year-old Bralynd Coleman, already pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary.

Sims will be sentenced as a juvenile in October.
