A man who was fatally shot in Denver on Sept. 11 has been identified.

The Denver coroner’s office said the man is 33-year-old Kenneth Nwachukwu of Northglenn and ruled his death a homicide.

Police responded at about 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 11 to a report of gunshots in the 5000 block of Alcott Street in Denver. They found Nwachukwu, who was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police later arrested Lance Cook, 40, who is being held in the Denver jail as a suspect in the investigation.

Police have not released a motive in the case, which is being reviewed by the district attorney’s office.

The coroner’s office said the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head. Nwachukwu’s family was notified in Nigeria.
