A 60-year-old man paragliding in Pitkin County near Carbondale crashed, according to the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office.

The man landed between Thomas and Dinkle Lakes near Mount Sopris. He has back and leg injuries.

Mountain Rescue Aspen sent two teams of eight members and four ATV’s into the field to locate the individual. Several hikers in the area stayed with the injured party until help arrived.

At approximately 2:08 p.m., Flight For Life Summit County was able to reach the patient. He was flown to St. Anthony’s Central in Denver for medical attention. The man was not identified.
