Unlike his father Ed, who made a living catching passes, Valor Christian’s Christian McCaffrey is taking a grounded approach. Christian rushed just eight times in the Eagles’ 42-3 rout of Castle View in a 4A South Metro League game, but gained 191 yards and scored five touchdowns totaling 175 yards. His TD runs came from 39, 4, 47, 49 and 36 yards out.
Going the distance.
In Overland’s 49-26 loss to Cherry Creek, Chaz Butler rushed for 330 yards, including two 80-yard scores. The junior finished with 389 total yards.
On the other side.
Cherry Creek’s Taylor Wooten had 265 yards rushing and three TDs (70, 66 and 11 yards) in beating Overland.
7. Number of Conifer Lobos who scored at least one touchdown in a 58-0 victory against Jefferson. Matt Wright scored twice, and teammates Patrick Marshall, Cole Nichols, Jake Heinrich, Niles Koenigsberg, Cameron Seehase and Brandon Payer each added a TD.
