A second person has died from injuries suffered in a rollover crash in Lakewood.
One female occupant died at the scene Monday afternoon and a second person, a 40-year-old woman, died last night at St. Anthony Central Hospital, said Steve Davis, a Lakewood Police Department spokesman.
The now double-fatal crash happened at about 2:05 p.m. Monday near C-470 and the West Alameda Parkway.
The 1997 Ford Explorer that rolled apparently “struck” a 1999 Oldsmobile Aurora before careening off the highway and down an embankment.
The Ford rolled several times before coming to a stop.
A girl between the ages of 8 and 14 was taken by helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Aurora. Details on her condition were not released.
One person in the Oldsmobile, a 57-year-old woman, was taken by ambulance to Littleton Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries, Davis said.
Identities of the people involved in the crash were not released. This story will be updated with additional details as soon as possible.
