DACONO — A 40-year-old woman is dead and a 6-year-old boy is in critical condition after a crash Sunday morning.
The Mountain View Fire Protection District said the woman was driving a Ford Taurus west on Weld County Road 6 about 9 a.m. when she apparently pulled in front of an oncoming pickup heading north on Colorado Boulevard.
Authorities said the Taurus was broadsided on the driver’s side, killing the woman and critically injuring her passenger.
Firefighters said the boy was taken to Children’s Hospital by helicopter with life-threatening chest and head injuries.
Authorities said the two adults in the pickup were released at the scene with no injuries.
Firefighters said it was unclear whether the woman stopped at the stop sign at the intersection. There is not a stop sign on Colorado Boulevard at that intersection.
