Row 14, the restaurant that will occupy 3,500 square feet of the Spire condo building, will be a room with a view of downtown Denver’s beloved Blue Bear statue that peers into the Colorado Convention Center.
Front-of-the-house man David Schneider, who’s a part-time server at Rioja, and chef Arik Markus will open the bistro-wine bar, whose name pays homage to the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, in February.
The Row 14 name also evokes images of rows in gardens, from which the partners plan to buy locally.
The space at the southeast corner on 14th Street will feature glass walls that can open up to the patio along the street.
Markus, a chef at Frasca Food & Wine in Boulder, will use his New York and San Francisco restaurant experience to build the menu, which will feature dinner entrees in the $16-to-$28 range and roughly 50 wines.
“I want the menu to be less fussy,” Markus said. “I’m a stickler for quality and presentation. I don’t want to toe the line between fusion and confusion.”
An edited post-theater menu will be served nightly until midnight. Spire is a 493-unit condo project developed by the Nichols Partnership. Two hundred five units had been sold as of last week.
Wedding-bell news.
The Four Seasons Hotel Denver and Hyde Park Jewelers in the Cherry Creek mall have partnered to cover something new and something blue for brides who throw their wedding reception in the hotel’s ballrooms.
Hyde Park will give brides the chance to borrow a necklace and a pair of earrings with a total value of up to $10,000 on their special day. Upon return of the borrowed jewels, the bride will receive a travel case.
The Four Seasons will take care of the blue part by donating a personalized blue lace handkerchief. Couples who reserve a ballroom between now and Dec. 31 will receive three complimentary nights at Four Seasons Resort Lana’i at Manele Bay, Hawaii, or Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, Mexico.
Meanwhile, the competing Ritz-Carlton Denver is looking for a special couple, one of whom faces a terminal illness or a life-altering circumstance, to win a wedding reception worth nearly $20,000.
Interested couples should contact Wish Upon a Wedding media chair Brynn Swanson at brynn303@gmail.com.
