A 21-year-old man who allegedly ambushed three people at a medical marijuana dispensary has been charged with three counts each of kidnapping, aggravated robbery and first-degree burglary.

The suspect, Myles Stephens, allegedly approached the three as they left the dispensary in the 4600 block of East Colfax Avenue on Oct. 26.

Prosecutors allege Stephens forced them back inside the dispensary and then stole cash and marijuana from them at gunpoint.

According to court documents, the victims reported that they were leaving for the night and exiting the back door of the business when two men, both dressed in black, approached them with a gun and ordered them back into the dispensary.

One of the victims said she immediately hit the panic button hanging around her neck, which alerted police.

The victims told police that the suspects took them inside, made them get down on the floor and told them not to look at them.

The victims said they were then taken to the basement where the men demanded that the safe be opened. The safe was opened, and cash and medical marijuana was taken by the masked intruders, according to police.

Stephens was apprehended by Denver police after a short footchase.

The second suspect remains at large, according to Lynn Kimbrough, spokeswoman for the Denver district attorney’s office.

Stephens remains in custody at the Denver Detention Center. His bond is set at $100,000.
