CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.—Chattanooga-based Rock Bottom Restaurants Inc., the parent of Big River Grille and Brewing Works, is combining with Colorado-based Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant Group.
The Chattanooga Times Free Press reported for Tuesday’s editions that the new company called CraftWorks Restaurants and Breweries Inc. will have 200 owned and franchised restaurants, and keep corporate offices in both Chattanooga and Louisville, Colo.
Private equity firm Centerbridge Capital Partners of New York acquired both Gordon Biersch and Rock Bottom to create CraftWorks. The price was not disclosed.
Frank Day, chairman and CEO of Rock Bottom, will be chairman of the new company. The Chattanooga offices are expected to grow from about 45 employees to up to 1 00.
