A 28-year-old Denver woman faces criminal charges in the death of her infant, prosecutors said.

Jilliean Phillips told emergency crews she had discovered her baby, Samantha Brown, was not breathing while the child slept in the same bed with her Oct. 24. Phillips was arrested Friday and charged with child abuse resulting in death, a felony.

The Denver district attorney’s office alleges Phillips was drunk and “unreasonably placed the infant in a situation that posed a threat to her health and safety by placing her in an adult bed with multiple articles of bedding that could cause suffocation.”

Phillips remains in Denver County Jail on $150,000 bail.
