AURORA, Colo.—Kyle Piatt ran for 193 yards, scored a touchdown and had a crucial interception Saturday as Olathe beat Brush 14-13 to win its second Class 2A state championship in three years.

Piatt tied the game in the third quarter with a 53-yard run. Fourth-seeded Olathe (12-2) took the lead with the extra-point conversion.

Piatt thwarted a potential game-winning drive by intercepting Brush quarterback Eric Garcia in the fourth quarter.

Brush (11-3), the No. 3 seed, scored both its touchdowns with help from Olathe miscues.

After a botched punt on the game’s opening possession, Skyler Seewald gave Brush a 7-0 lead with a 3-yard touchdown.

Olathe tied the game at 7 in the second quarter on Willy Corey’s 2-yard run.

Brush’s Daniel Soto blocked another Olathe punt, and Connor Weisser scored on a 1-yard run with 6 seconds in the first half.

Jesus Cardenas’ extra-point attempt bounced off the left upright.
