BOULDER, Colo.—A Boulder woman who plead guilty to trying to bribe a juror to not convict her in a weapons case was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
The Boulder Daily Camera reported Friday that 51-year-old Darine Chely was sentenced on charges of jury tampering, theft and violating a bond condition. She plead guilty to those charges in October.
Authorities said Chely wrote a juror a note offering $5,000 to find her not guilty on the weapons charges in April. The juror turned over the note to the judge in the case and Chely was eventually convicted.
Chely was free on bond and failed to appear for closing arguments in the weapons case and was later arrested in New York state on April 28. Authorities say she was trying to cross into Canada.
