FORT COLLINS, Colo.—A former Colorado Eagles hockey defenseman pleaded guilty to getting into an altercation with a police officer during a riot in Fort Collins in August.

Mario Joly’s plea Friday was part of a deal with prosecutors that called for his conviction to be erased from his record in three years if he serves 375 hours of community service and doesn’t get in trouble. The Loveland Reporter-Herald says prosecutors dropped charges of resisting arrest, disobeying a public safety order and engaging in a riot as part of the plea deal.

Police say Joly threw a punch at a police officer when he and others were asked to leave during rioting in downtown Fort Collins.

The Colorado Eagles signed the 29-year-old Joly last season. He now plays for another league in Canada.
