Getting your player ready...
The MLS champion Colorado Rapids will open their 2011 season March 19 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park with a familiar face in the visitor’s coaching box: Former Rapids favorite John Spencer, a firey goalscorer from Scotland who played for the Rapids 2001-2004, returns as head coach of the expansion Portland Timbers.
The league expands to 18 teams next season, with Vancouver being the other newcomer. Major League Soccer teams will play 34-game schedules, with one home and one road game against every team.
The rest of the MLS schedule has not been released.
