DENVER—Gov.-elect John Hickenlooper has appointed Sen. Al White to head the Colorado Tourism Office and Joan Henneberry to oversee planning for a health insurance exchange in Colorado.

White, a Republican from Hayden, served eight years in the state House before he was elected to the Senate two years ago. Hickenlooper said Tuesday that White, a businessman, has a long history of promoting tourism in Colorado.

Henneberry is currently executive director of the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing. In her new job, she will continue the planning for a health insurance exchange required by the federal health care overhaul.

Hickenlooper was elected in November and will succeed fellow Democrat Bill Ritter, who didn’t seek a second term. He’ll take office Jan. 11.
