Recipients of Carnegie Heroes Fund medals being awarded Wednesday:

—Keith B. Havens, 54; Zachary Prince Havens, 20; and Zane W. Havens, 18, of Albion, Mich., saved Brittany and Jason Sorensen from drowning in Kilauea, Hawaii, in June 2008.

—Mark J. Pierce, 47, of Morristown, Tenn., attempted to rescue Betty J. Rathbone, 70, from an apartment fire in Morristown, Tenn., in December 2009. Rathbone died at the scene.

—Trevor Jordan Tally, 21, of La Grande, Ore., died while attempting to help save Jonah A. Johnson, 6, and his grandmother, Ann M. Johnson, 64, from drowning in Hells Canyon, Idaho, in June 2009.

—Donald Ericson, 51, of The Woodlands, Texas, rescued Elizabeth Shoaf, 85, from a house fire in The Woodlands, Texas, in June 2009.

—Julie Fitzpatrick, 37, of Lighthouse Point, Fla., helped save an undetermined number of people from being struck by a runaway boat in Pompano Beach, Fla., in August 2009.

—Gheorghita Rusu, 21, of Ottawa, Canada, helped to rescue Brenda L. Van Leyen from a man who was stabbing her in Nepean, Ontario, in November 2009.

—David A. Benke, 57, of Littleton, Colo., saved an undetermined number of people when a 32-year-old gunman began shooting on the grounds of a middle school in Littleton, Colo., in February 2010.

—Michael V. Sharpe, 35, of Alberta, Canada, saved Marc W. Bissonnette from burning after an accident in his tractor-trailer in Wandering River, Alberta, in September 2009.

—Larry G. Darrohn Jr., 46, of Jim Thorpe, Pa., died trying to save Sharon A. Joseph, 63, from an apartment fire in Jim Thorpe, Pa., in December 2009. Joseph also died.

—Steven Bradley Estes, 40, of Hartselle, Ala., helped save Dewell W. Brown, 44, from a mobile home fire in Somerville, Ala., in October 2009.

—Gerald Piacente, 60, of Red Hook, N.Y., helped to rescue Caitlin Kelly, 16, from a burning pickup truck in Milan, N.Y., in June 2009.

—Jose Higareda, 20, of Norwalk, Conn., died while trying to help save Ivan D. Carpio, 10, from drowning in Norwalk, Conn., in May 2009.

—Eula Lee Harward, 62, of Ocala, Fla., died after trying to rescue Margaret G. Harward, 78, from a house fire in Ocala, Fla., in March 2009. Harward also died.

—Christopher Alan Sturgeon, 33, of Topeka, Kan., helped to rescue Josephine E. Brown, 63, from a house fire in Topeka, Kan., in November 2009.

—Victor Oxford, 54, of Corona, Calif., helped to save a 38-year-old woman attempting to jump off a freeway overpass in Corona, Calif., in January 2009.

—Brian W. Coblentz, 47, of Germantown, Tenn., saved Heather M. Wolff, 2, from drowning in a freezing lake in Germantown, Tenn., in January 2010.

—Joseph M. Healey, 38, of Bullhead City, Ariz., saved two children, ages 6 and 4, from being struck by a boat in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., in July 2009.

—Scott Matthew Blight, 43, and Gary A. Kneeshaw, 36, saved Megan A. Rippy, 27, and Andre D. Dorian, 27, from burning in a wildfire in Lakeside, Calif., in August 2010.
