LOS ANGELES — Clothing retailer Papaya has agreed to stop selling garments made with animal fur at its more than 90 outlets across the United States, bowing to pressure from the animal-rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
Papaya joins retailers including Wet Seal, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, J. Crew and Eddie Bauer in agreeing to no longer sell fur products, PETA said in a news release.
“Papaya saves its customers from becoming fashion victims, and now the company’s anti-fur policy extends the same courtesy to animals,” PETA senior vice president Dan Mathews said in the release.
