Comply Foam Tips are foam tips that replace the run-of-the-mill tips found on most earbuds — those phenomenally popular products that are supposed to fit comfortably inside one’s ear (the ear canal, specifically), block out ambient noise and, in a perfect audio world, enhance the sonics of the music.

A set costs about $13 and includes six tips — two small size, two medium, two large. Comply tips made the music emerging from an iPod more rich and detailed, and punched up the bass.

Comply tips come from a company called Hearing Components, a spinoff of 3M. Besides making tips for music listeners, Hearing Components says it develops products for hearing aids and aviation use.

There is a compatibility chart on the product’s website, for fitting the correct tip to specific ear buds. Nearly all brands on the market can be easily upgraded.
