SALT LAKE CITY—The Environmental Protection Agency has fined a Denver-based energy company $350,000 for clean air violations in the Uintah Basin.

EPA regional administrator Jim Martin says in a news release that Gasco Energy violated several provisions of the Clean Air Act at a natural gas compression plant in eastern Utah.

Gasco no longer owns the plant, which is located near Vernal. Monarch Natural Gas bought it as part of a $23 million deal in February.

Along with the fine, Gasco will install emission controls at the plant, as well as other Gasco facilities in the Uintah Basin.

Last year, monitors in the Uintah Basin showed that the air quality was some of the worst in the nation.
