DENVER—The bus driver responsible for a Denver crash that killed two people and injured 11 others was sentenced to three years of probation.

Prosecutors say 30-year-old Tideneykiyalesh (tie-den-ee-kee-yah-lesh) Hawariyat (haw-rahr-ee-yat) ran a red light and crashed into two vehicles in April. Two people in one car died and another driver and 10 bus passengers were injured.

Hawariyat pleaded guilty in November to two counts of careless driving resulting in death and one count of careless driving resulting in injury.

Hawariyat was driving a Regional Transportation District bus, but was employed by a private contractor.
