DENVER—Cory Gardner delivered his first speech in Congress during his first full day on the job.
The Colorado Republican spoke Thursday on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives in favor of the new Congress’ first spending cut measure.
It would trim 5 percent from the budgets of leadership, rank-and-file member and committee offices. Republicans have estimated that this will save $35 million over the next nine months.
Gardner said the cut wasn’t massive but said it would be monumental, allowing Congress to lead by example when it comes to the budget.
