Avalanche defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk did not practice today and is questionable for Monday’s game against the Detroit Red Wings at the Pepsi Center.
Shattenkirk has an injured foot, but it’s not serious. Colorado coach Joe Sacco said the rookie took a shot off the foot in the second period of Saturday’s 4-3 overtime loss to the New York Islanders.
Shattenkirk continued to play and finished with a team-high 30 shifts.
“We’ll see how he feels, how he presents, tomorrow morning,” Sacco said. “When you take a shot off the foot in those situations, you don’t realize how sore it is, or how it’s going to feel, until that boot comes off. So until afterward, when he took the skate off, he realized there was some swelling. And this morning, he came in and it swelled up. So we’ll see. He should be good.”
