A man who died after falling from the 11th story of a west Denver high-rise committed suicide, the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner said Wednesday.
Benny Ruiz, 43, jumped from the window of the apartment at the Juanita Nolasco residences near West Ninth Avenue and Tennyson Street on Tuesday.
“We believe his death was a suicide,” said Sonny Jackson, a Denver Police Department spokesman.
A neighbor at the building said Wednesday that Ruiz had exhibited bizarre behavior recently. The man said that on the day before Ruiz died, he had seen him undressing in one of the building’s elevators.
Witnesses told 9News that Ruiz jumped after having a fight with his mother, who also lived in the apartment.
Police arrived on the scene after receiving a call from the building and found Ruiz on the ground, where he died about 5:30 p.m.
