DENVER—A former Colorado Springs man has been sentenced to two years in prison for trying to damage a Transportation Security Administration computer after he was told that his job as a data analyst for the federal agency was being eliminated.
The U.S. attorney’s office for Colorado says 47-year-old Douglas Duchak was also sentenced Tuesday to three years of supervised release after he leaves prison and ordered to pay $60,587 in restitution.
Duchak pleaded guilty in October to trying to damage a protected computer while working for a private company that had a contract with the federal agency. Authorities say he tried to disrupt a computer program used by the TSA to screen air passengers who might be security threats.
